Hi there!  Welcome to our site, where we hope to be describing our motorhome adventures.  Our experience of motorhoming has been that it’s a massive amount of fun – we would not do it otherwise!  But the idea of this site is to be very much a “warts and all” look at our experiences, so as well as sharing our travel stories and some of our best moments, we also aim to tell you about some of the challenges and frustrations that we encounter…so that hopefully others can learn from them as we do.

We are:

Gareth – a banker, but don’t hold that against him.  Very much the planner behind the whole operation, he can be relied upon to have a spreadsheet somewhere about his person at all times.  Passionate about travel, and loves to get under the skin of a new place and really see it as the locals do.  Food and drink are a big part of the pleasure of travel for him; also a fan of all things to do with aviation, railways…and motorhome gadgetry.  On the motorhoming adventure he is the navigator, cook and tour director (he likes that last bit, it makes him think he’s in charge).

Simon – historian, tour guide and photographer.  Whilst meticulous in planning the tours he works on professionally, he tends to have a laissez-faire approach to his own travels.  Left to his own devices, he would probably just follow his nose – inevitably to the end of a narrow dead-end which he then needs to reverse out of.  Nuts about anything to do with C20 history, especially military history.  On the motorhoming adventure he is the driver, cleaner and (heaven help us) the technical expert.

Tilly – the motorhome.  It’s short for Clothilde (being a Rapido she is French, after all).  The romantic, evocative and wholly impractical name was suggested by Simon.  The sensible, practical and eminently pronounceable abbreviation to “Tilly” was chosen by Gareth.  If you know us, this difference in approach will not surprise you in the least…

If you’d like to contact us, we’d love to hear from you, so please give us a shout using the form below, and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
