And so to bed

Well, we are now safely back home again after our week of travels.  After our seaside adventure, we spent Friday at Tredegar House and Gardens in glorious sunshine. They offer an outdoor “Bricks and Mortar” tour, most of which the dog could go on, so we were all able to do that.

Afterwards, we had lunch on the grass next to Tilly; and Tigger enjoyed a lamb bone left over from my dinner the night before!

After lunch we took it in turns to sit with the dog and explore the house, so in the end we were most of the day there. In the late afternoon, we headed on to our Britstop for the night, a super little pub near the Severn and the Wye, with some great walks under the old Severn bridge. Magnificent views too.

Saturday was something of a practical day. Our first job was to take Tigger back home, where we said a sad farewell. It’s been a pleasure having him even if, to be honest, he’s perhaps a little big to share Tilly with.

Our final night was at Wyatt’s Covert campsite near Denham. It’s a lovely spot, and we needed a full service campsite to drain Tilly’s systems! It also gave us the opportunity to try out our newly serviced bikes on a ride along the nearby canal towpath. A ride which was, naturally, punctuated (but fortunately not punctured) with a pub stop.

And so after a final night’s sleep, it was time to put Tilly back to bed. Until next time…
